John Osborne led a fabulous tour to BULGARIA in September 2012.

‘We particularly liked the selection of different things to see, from different centuries, varying from churches to museums to monasteries to spectacular scenery, and of course John's unique ability to put it all in context.’

The journey included Koprivshtitsa and Plovdiv, site of an impressive Roman theatre, the Thracian tomb in Kazanluk the medieval capital Veliko Turnovo the great monasteries of Bachkovo, Rila and Troyan, as well as a remarkable series of 13th century frescoes in the Boyana church near Sofia and the newly located National Historical Museum displaying the celebrated Thracian treasures.

‘John’s knowledge, enthusiasm and ability to pass these on are second to none’

‘The organisation on the ground was quite superb. Everything went like clockwork.’
