Highlights of Hadrian’s Wall

1 – 5 September 2025 (other dates available for private tours)

Hadrian’s Wall is the most famous of all the frontiers of the Roman Empire, and the most important monument built by the Romans in Britain. After the end of Roman rule, and for almost its entire history, the area remained disputed, dangerous border territory. Many later buildings were fortified, including small farms and churches, as well as castles, using recycled building material and monuments from the Roman Wall.

Our new five-day tour takes in some of the most significant Roman forts and museums along Hadrian’s Wall, with three short but exhilarating walks to view some of the most spectacular stretches and significant places. While this journey focuses on the Roman world, we will also explore the artistic and spiritual transitions from the Roman empire to the Anglo-Saxons and later medieval kingdoms, from the pagan to the Christian world.
