World of Miklos Banffy

This short but intensely interesting visit to Budapest, Hungary and Cluj, Romania goes in search of the world of a great European writer, artist, designer and politician. We begin in Budapest with a private tour of the casinos – the clubs around whose social life this great storyteller wove his Transylvanian Trilogy. His family came from Transylvania, so we travel there across the Great Hungarian Plain to Cluj to visit his town palace, now the city’s art gallery. We also visit in this vibrant university city, the Banffy mausoleum and Kos Karoly’s wonderful Hungarian Reformed ‘Cockerel’ church. We end the tour with a poignant visit to Banffy’s once great country house, Bonţida, now again in the hands of the family. Email us for more details.
